Yesterday India vs Ireland match was done. India played their first international match after three months after finishing the long schedule of IPL. This was the first T 20 match of the bilateral series against Ireland. Last international match India played was also a T 20 match which was the final of Hero Nidhaas Trophy 2018 against Bangladesh in which Dinesh Karthik’s heroics helped India to conquer the trophy.
This was the 2nd T 20 being played between India and Ireland overall. It was after three years a T 20 match was being played at Malhide. There was nothing much to know about the pitch from past matches but pitch was expected to go dry and be batting friendly.
Irish skipper Gary Wilson won the toss and decided to bowl first and this gave the sign that the pitch was going to be a batting friendly lots of run can be seen to be scored.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli shocked everyone by giving chance to Manish Pandey and giving rest to KL Rahul and once again Umesh Yadav missed to comeback in the T 20 squad even after a great performance in the last IPL season. Rest of the Indian side was a regular T 20 squad of India’s T 20 specialists. Irish squad was looking to give a tough competition to the visitors with their game.
India vs Ireland – India on bat first
As the game started, Rohit and Dhawan came out o open the innings and started testing every Irish bowler by hitting runs all over the ground. Rohit forgetting his disastrous 2018 IPL season scored 97 runs just three shorts of his century. Once it was looking that both the Indian openers will hit their centuries but India lost its first wicket in the form of Shikhar Dhawan at the completion of 16th over at the score of 160. Last over didn’t go well for India as in need of making quick runs and scoring boundaries, three Indian batsmen gave their wickets to Peter Chase. After that also India scored a huge total of 208 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. It was a big score to chase for Irish batsman against India’s T 20 specialist bowlers.
Irish batsman Stirling and Shannon came to open the 2nd innings but only Shannon managed to score fighting 60 runs. No other batsman played well. India’s spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal made a partnership and took 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Kuldeep won the man of the match award for his bowling figures (4-21). Irish squad could only make 132 runs with the loss of 9 wickets resulting in India winning the match by 76 runs.
Let’s see if Irish squad will come up with a tough competition or not in the last match of the series. Will we able to see some changes in Indian side in the next game or not. Let’s see what happens in the next match. Hoping for the best!
